The BLRC Service
General
The focus of the BLRC service is advice in the two practice areas of Industrial Relations and Anti-discrimination. This takes the form of telephone advice, meetings, usually online, and written reports. The reports set out the facts of the case, the relevant law and step-by-step recommendations on how to effectively resolve the case in question. The service also extends to representation at relevant Tribunals.
Research
BLRC provides industrial, not legal advice. I am not a lawyer but am required to reach legal conclusions as part of the process of providing industrial advice. Research is needed to provide this expert advice. I have access to a number of professional legal information services to facilitate the legal research process.
Knowledge
Reseearch leads to knowledge.Giving advice requires knowledge. Rest assured that if ever I am unsure of something I wil say so and get back to you in a timely manner. Nevertheless, industrial relations and anti-discrimination often deal not with certainties, but rather unknowns.
Judgement
Research, Knowledge and experience equal Judgment. My many years of experience give me the capacity for judgment. Judgement is essential in what are often complex cases. I work with my clients to reach an agreed plan going forward based on the facts of the case, the relevant law, the exposure of the client (what is at stake) and the risks involved.
The BLRC Difference
Industrial relations and Anti-discrimination is often a ‘conflict business’. It is a fact that labour relations often envolves conflict and as such it can be very stressful. Hence, I am highly cognisant of the need to support my clients through a work method that emphasises working together as a team with a common goal. This is the BLRC difference.
